Mike Walker

Sheriff Mike Walker is a lifelong resident of central Illinois, growing up in Pana, Illinois and graduating from Pana High School in 1984. After graduating high school, Sheriff Walker earned his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Lakeland College. Sheriff Walker is also a graduate of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command.
Sheriff Walker’s Law Enforcement career began in 1986, as a Reserve Deputy sheriff with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. In 1987 he began serving as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Pana Police Department. In 1989 Sheriff Walker joined the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. During his career with the Sheriff’s Office he has served as a Deputy Sheriff, D.A.R.E. Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Jail Administrator and Chief Deputy. In 2018 he was elected County Sheriff.
Mike and his wife, Tonya have been married since 1992, and have two adult children Bailey and Connor.
